Many sources recommend using 30-weight non-detergent motor oil in the transmission and overdrive of the P1800. Problem is, where do you find it?

I have noted some mentions here and elsewhere of 30W non-detergent oil being hard to find in parts of the country. I checked here in Virginia, and Advance Auto Parts carries 30 W ND oil, currently in stock at my local outlet at $0.79 per quart. I also remember from my earlier-in-life aviation connections that air-cooled reciprocating aircraft engines used ND oil during their initial 50-hour break-in period after overhaul. It could be, failing finding it in upscale auto parts houses that only cater to upscale, modern automotive needs, one might find it at your local Fixed Base Operator (FBO). Of course, aviation supplies cost more because of the special ink used to label them.

I read with some interest your article/response on finding 30W non-detergent oil for the M41. For anyone located anywhere near where farming is done, this is a snap to find. Apparently, some types of farm machinery have a need for this stuff. Here in West Michigan, I have two choices, Quality Farm and Fleet, and Tractor Supply Company.
For folks not near farm country, hey, an 1800 is the perfect car for taking a drive TO farm country.
