1.9 Million Miles and Counting . . .

One of the perks of running your own web page on a subject of broad appeal is that you sometimes get messages from actual famous people. This one's from Irv Gordon, the owner of the world's longest-running car, a '66 Volvo P1800S.

Dear Glenn,

Just found your page on the web. As I spend most of my time driving from place to place, I do not often get a chance to surf the web as some do. You have some excellent information to share, and I hope all who read it appreciate your hard work. You now have my e-mail address so that if anyone else asks about my car, you can send them directly to me. I love the questions about how much they can drive their cars and under what conditions.

For your information I now have 1,900,000 miles on my 1800 and I just returned from Wisconsin. In August I will be driving to LA ..... then to Monterey .......... then to the West Coast Meet in Vancouver, BC ...... from there to a dealer in New Hampshire and then to the East Coast Meet in Orlando. My suggestion to all those who ask.......drive the car.......it is not a stamp collection that you look at once in a while and put away. 1800's love to be driven and the more they are driven, the better they seem to do. This is what the car was designed for.......so take advantage of a classic that can be driven daily and enjoyed!

Best wishes,

Irv Gordon Miln2miler@aol.com

Hello, Irv - Thanks for your kind words. I believe in driving cars, too, although I could be tempted to collect them as well, if I could afford it! Congratulations on making the 1.9 million mile mark. You have made a great car famous as well. Looking forward to when you hit 2 million. Regards, -Glenn.
