Hi. I have a 62 P1800 that I bought a year ago, and I am hoping to do a modified restoration on the car. The car has been painted once and the interior redone. However the work is not up to what I want. My big complaint about the car is the engine, which has been rebuilt and bored out to 2000cc. I would like to put a bigger engine in the car and wonder if you know of anyone who has done a swap. I am thinking a small V-6 might possibly fit without too much sheet metal work. Any info you can send my way would be appreciated. Thanks

Gary - There was a story in the December, 1964, issue of Hot Rod magazine about a V-8 conversion, but it involved extensive cutting and welding, and there were a lot of problems afterward with overheating in the engine and the cabin.
I did hear of a V-6 conversion somebody in Houston pulled off. He used a Camaro engine with good results.
Actually, I'm sorry to hear that you don't like the rebuilt Volvo engine. I just did the same thing to my engine, and it's working great. It doesn't run like a dragster, but I don't have any trouble getting on the freeway.
Good luck, whatever you do. -Glenn.
