Restoration Project

My 1973 1800ES project is almost complete. I just took the front seats to an upholstry shop in Jarrell, Texas (remember the tornado that hit that place?). Next is air conditioning. We are going to take it to San Antonio to Classic Auto AC. My mechanic, who specializes in 1955-57 T-Birds says these guys are great.

Last comes a new coat of paint -- this will be the FIRST time in a paint shop for this car after 130,000 miles. I am the second owner. I got it from a guy who bought it in Austin, Texas, and kept it in a garage by night and a carport by day. Soon, I'd like to drive to some of these East or West coast meets.

K.C. -

I gather the car was not in the path of the tornado! Yeah, paint lasts a long time if you keep it out of the elements, but you'll still have to repaint sooner or later. I've been postponing that little job for several years by stripping, polishing and waxing about every six months, but it's to the point where I'd just as soon buy a good paint gun, rent the compressor, and see what I can do myself. All I need is another car I can drive for a couple months while I'm learning how to paint! -Glenn.
