Editor's note: John mentioned a book I didn't know existed -- a genuine Volvo service manual still in print and available from Volvo.
The book I ordered from Volvo is quite large. It not only covers 1800s but 120s and others from 1959 to 1968(?). It came to around $80.00 though. It is not the original service manual for the 1800, but a reprint covering the above mentioned models. I'll mail you some better information tommorrow.
Okay here's what I got. Call: 1-800-25-VOLVO and ask for their most recent Aftermarket Product Information Catalog. It's free. When you receive it you will see the first group is Older Models -- covering 1959-1974 Models 544, 110, 210, 140, 164 & 1800. It retails at $65.00, with NYS Sales Tax and $5.00 shipping it cost me $80.00.
My only complaint about the book besides its cost is that the beginning section is not of good quality. It is not the original Service Manual -- but Volvo reprints amassed into one Master Service Manual. I think it's worth it.
Just worth mentioning -- through reading other Volvo sites I also ordered a Haynes Manual on SU/Zenith-Stromberg Carburetors from ipd, but I can't comment about that 'cause I haven't received it yet. Anyway, Take care-John
